Introduction

This document outlines all you need to know about this version of the Direct Debit Platform. It provides a brief summary of the changes and, further in the document, more detailed information on each item.

This release contains one enhancement and eight fixes to eDD sign-up pages and sites. The enhancement lets administrators set a maximum start date for payers. The fixes make error messages clearer, make the mandate reference consistent across pages, stop copied custom questions sharing answers, stop the Termination field breaking the site, select the default amount correctly, align the Address line 1 limit and correct membership amounts.

Enhancements

Set a maximum start date for payers

ADO #2371892

Administrators can now set the maximum number of days in the future that a payer can choose as their Direct Debit start date. The setting is in Site Configuration, on the Payment Collection Frequency step, next to the setting that delays the first available collection date. This stops payers signing up with a start date far in the future.

For schedules that are not annual, payers only see start dates inside the window. A message under the date picker tells them: "Your start date must be within the next [X] days", where [X] is the number of days you set. For annual schedules, payers can only choose a start month within the next 3 months from the current date. The days setting does not apply to annual schedules.

The maximum works with the delay setting. If the maximum is the same as or lower than the delay, a warning shows and the configuration cannot be saved until you change it. Sites with no maximum set work as before.

Fixes

Clearer error messages on sign-up forms

ADO #1739223, 1739212

If a payer enters an invalid character in a field on a sign-up form, for example the Company field, the error message now shows next to that field straight away. The form no longer lets the payer continue to the summary page while an error remains. Before this fix, the error only showed when the payer went back to edit the form, and some payers left the form without completing sign-up.

Collection day earlier than the first available date is now handled correctly

ADO #1739215

A sign-up page link can pass in a collection day using collectionDayValue. If that day is earlier than the first available collection date, the form now shows an error and does not let the payer continue with that date. Before this fix, the date shown on the first page and the date shown on the review page did not match, and sign-up failed on the following page.

Copied custom questions no longer share answers

ADO #1739217

When you copy a custom question on an eDD form and edit the copy, for example changing a radio button question to a tick-box question, the answers on each question are now independent. Before this fix, selecting an answer on one question also selected an answer on another.

Mandate reference is now consistent across sign-up pages

ADO #1739219

The altRef and mandateReference page link parameters now set the same reference. The Mandate Reference merge field shows this reference on the form, review and confirmation pages, and the same reference is saved against the customer on the Direct Debit platform. If both parameters are used, altRef takes priority. If neither is used, the form and review pages show a blank reference and the confirmation page shows the automatically generated reference.

Termination field no longer breaks the eDD site

ADO #1739222

You can now add a Termination field to an eDD site without an error showing on the Payments tab of the workspace. The termination date is set on the schedule. For schedules with the termination type 'Until further notice', the termination date cannot be changed.

Default amount is now selected correctly

ADO #1816694

When an eDD page has a default amount, that amount is now selected when the page opens. This also applies to an amount passed in the page link, for example ?amount=10. Before this fix, some amounts, such as 10, were ignored while others, such as 5 and 15, worked.

Address line 1 limit now matches across eDD and the Direct Debit platform

ADO #1837719, 1871151

The Address line 1 limit on eDD sign-up pages now matches the Direct Debit platform, which allows up to 200 characters. Before this fix, the limits did not match across the products, so some longer addresses could not be entered.

Membership amounts now save and display correctly

ADO #1773394

The amount for a joint membership now saves and shows correctly, including when you edit the Direct Debit. Before this fix, a zero could drop off the amount.

Known Issues

There are no known issues in this release.
