DDCMS Direct accepts files with destination account names containing invalid BACS characters (such as apostrophes or accented letters) without errors. These characters are automatically converted to ensure BACS compliance.

This applies to all file types, including BACS Standard 18, BACS Active (EaziPay) files, and SmartDebit Direct files.

Allowed BACS characters include uppercase letters (A–Z), digits (0–9), and specific symbols such as full stop (.), ampersand (&), forward slash (/), and hyphen (-).

When you upload a file with destination account names containing invalid BACS characters, DDCMS Direct will:

  • Accept the file without any validation errors.

  • Automatically replace invalid characters with blank spaces while keeping valid characters unchanged.

  • Display the corrected names consistently across all screens and exports.

  • Ensure all exported files are fully BACS-compliant without requiring additional steps.
