Sometimes when using Excel to view your reports the sort code can show up in date format. There's no way to preserve the sort code data at the initial download. However it can be fixed by following the below steps:

  1. Download the csv file export from eDD but don't open, just Save as.

  2. Open Notepad then go to FILE and open. Find your csv file and open it.

  3. Save the note pad file.

  4. Open a blank excel worksheet.

  5. Click on the data tab, then from text.

  6. Select the note pad file you previously saved.

  7. Double click on file name – this will bring up the text import wizard.

  8. Choose the file type delimited then next.

  9. Choose comma then next.

  10. Scroll along to the sort code and account number fields and highlight them, in the column data format choose text.

  11. Click finish.

  12. This then preserves the data as a sort code and also prevents the preceding zeros from disappearing.
