Direct Debits can only be set up from a UK based bank account.

What qualifies as a UK based bank account

To set up a Direct Debit, the bank account must:

  • Be opened with a UK bank or building society.

  • Support the UK Direct Debit Scheme.

  • Include:

    • An eight digit account number

    • A six digit sort code

If an account doesn't have both a sort code and account number, it can't be used for UK Direct Debit.

πŸ“ŒNote: If you're looking to collect payments from customers in Europe, SEPA Direct Debit may be a better option.
