Can I use e-sign software to sign up new customers?

When looking for alternative methods to sign up new customers to Direct Debit, you may choose to use an e-signature software.

Access PaySuite allows the use of e-sign software, however you must ensure that you are using your BACS approved mandate that we have provided. You can import your mandate into the software in order to email this out to new customers.

Using e-sign mandates is a form of Paperless Direct Debit, and therefore organisations should be aware of the associated risks in using Paperless Direct Debit:

  • It is the organisation's responsibility to verify the customer and validate their details. for example. identity, account details, customer address.

  • The organisation must consider the wider reputational issues for the Scheme particularly with regard to the risk of fraud. Paperless Direct Debit may not be suitable for some transactions such as high value payments.
